This scholarship is a form of appreciation for health workers who died when struggling during the pandemic. This statement has been conveyed by Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan.
"On behalf of the city government and the people of Jakarta, we would like to express our deepest condolences. They are individuals who work closely with the COVID-19 case. We pray together, Insya Allah, they will be martyred and exalted in the sight of God," he mentioned.
The distribution of this scholarship will be processed on a non-cash basis with a transfer mechanism through recipient's Bank DKI account. It is in line with Gubernatorial Decree (Kepgub) No. 739/2020, where there are 12 people at the beginning of the academic year with PAUD (1 person), elementary school/SD (2 persons), junior high school/SMP (1 person), senior high school/SMA (4 persons) and university (4 persons).
Scholarships given per level are Rp 6,000,000/year for PAUD, Rp 9,000,000/year for elementary school, Rp 12,000,000/year for junior high school, Rp 15,000,000/year for senior high school, and Rp 20,000,000/year for college students.
"Children are entrusted to use, we feel like they need to achieve their goals and future as expected by the deceased. Therefore, we provide scholarships to support them. Hopefully they can use this chance well," he asserted.
Scholarship granting policy will be disbursed immediately every year. 12 children mentioned in that Kepgub, as long as they are in school, from PAUD to bachelor's degree education, they will still receive scholarship from Jakarta Government.
In this occasion, he also conveyed message to the children who were present to stay enthusiastic in learning and be active in activities in class and outside the classroom.
He hopes they can be successful people who surpass their goals and proud of their families, Jakarta and Indonesia.
